The instruments for sale on this site represent my current stock made from both
traditional and non-traditional woods. However, I will be delighted to build a violin to your requirements either from some of my current stock of wood, from wood you wish to provide or from wood that I can source for you. Commission me to make a violin just for you, to meet your requirements - including woods, style (e.g. Stradivari, Amati, Steiner), fittings, finish etc. Many makers/musicians are reluctant to embrace/consider instruments that are not made from the traditional woods maple and spruce. However, I believe that with careful attention to the tonal properties and densities of the wood, that are then reflected in the construction, a large number of woods can be used to make excellent instruments. |
This is my philosophy classically dimensioned and constructed instruments using
a wide variety of woods to create instruments with variety in colour, tone and appearance, that look as well as sound beautiful. Lets explore the possibilities. |
